Dear Fellow Laborers in Christ,
Those of us at Soul’s Harbor
Apostolic Church in Bristol want to thank the Covenant Fellowship Church of
God for allowing us to participate in this wonderful ministry. You are
truly blessing your community!
I want to share with you my
testimony and how your ministry has allowed God to bless my family:
Due to health issues, my son
requires a specialized diet consisting of lots of meat, fresh fruits, and
vegetables. He cannot have items containing wheat and dairy products. Such
a diet can make a 7 year old child feel neglected and denied if he must
always turn down the Oreo cookies, chicken noodle soup, waffles and
pancakes, as well as cheeseburgers. This makes shopping for the entire
family very challenging and extremely expensive. In order to supply my son
with some of the standard “kid foods”, I must substitute all products
containing wheat and dairy with specialty forms such as corn, rice, or
potato flour pastas, breads, crackers, and cookies. Buying a simple can of
chicken noodle soup is impossible because of the wheat in the pasta! This
means that a simple $.50 can of soup costs me nearly $3.00. One loaf of
bread for my son’s lunch costs $5.00…you get the picture. My grocery bill
for substitutes alone often cost over $100.00 for a week!
Two months ago, prior to
starting the AFM program, I left the health food store with $137.00 of food
for my son which would “hopefully” last 1 ½ weeks – and I still had NO meats
and NO fruits and NO vegetables! I really didn’t know what I was going to
do or how I was going to afford to continue this special diet for my son. I
had a little talk with God that evening and told Him that I had no doubt
in my mind that He had led me to this special way of eating for my son
(which is another testimony for another time) and that now He was going to
have to help me afford it. I asked Him to Provide a Way…the next day my
dear friend and spirit-filled neighbor introduced me to AFM. Again, God had
made a way when there seemed to be no way. At nearly half the regular
price, I could now provide the necessary meats and vegetables through AFM
and still afford to purchase the specialties at the health food store. Now
I do not have to choose between buying soy mild for my son and regular milk
for my daughter and having one go without. I do not have to choose between
buying cookies for my son’s lunch and extra meat for this week’s dinner. I
can now afford to buy for both of them.
Not only did God meet my need
but I immediately felt the presence of the Lord and the unction of the Holy
Spirit urging me to share this program with others, including my home
church. What a blessing to provide hard-working people with a way to
provide for their families without having to always ask for a hand-out.
This is truly a hand UP and a wonderful way to bless not only the church
family, but also the friends, family, and neighbors each of us come in
contact with each day. My prayer is that each one who is blessed through
this ministry will catch the vision of ministry to their surrounding
community.
By the way, my son is very
excited and can’t wait to receive the 16 oz. bag of broccoli in our next
food box!
May God
Richly Bless You, Krystal
